Roborigger was founded in 2019 in Perth, Australia.
The technology was initially developed by TENSA Equipment, an Australian company established in 2009 providing specialist engineering solutions for offshore lifting, drilling, construction and operations.

2015
R&D and prototyping
Roborigger founder, Derick Markwell, started the development of the load rotating and stabilising unit after a conversation at Offshore Europe 2015.
The research and development of Roborigger continued through 2016 with the first working prototype achieved with the invention of Roborigger's own fan and flywheel system.

2017
First market validation
Roborigger technology first demonstrated to industry at AOG 2017 and awarded NERA Innovation Voucher worth AUD $20,000. Multiplex signed on as a development partner to trial Roborigger on commercial construction sites.
2018
Market ready
Roborigger awarded the Innovation Connection grant for its collaboration with Curtin University to fine-tune the control system algorithm.
By the end of 2018, the first commercial unit Roborigger AR10 was deployed on Multiplex WA museum project and Woodside signed on to lease Roborigger 20t unit for its onshore base.

2019
Awards & recognition
Roborigger recognised by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) WA as the Best Solution for the Work Health and Safety Risk for its collaboration with Multiplex to trial Roborigger with input from site personnel, riggers and dogmen.
Roborigger also won three awards at the WA Innovator of the Year 2019, bagging home Platinum sponsored awards by Woodside, South32 and Business News WA.

Series A funding & global expansion
We raised our first Series A funding with Blackbird Ventures for AUD $5M.
