The Roborigger product was originally developed by TENSA Equipment and Roborigger products are now in a separate entity with external investors (including TENSA Equipment as a major shareholder), called Roborigger Pty Ltd. TENSA Equipment has successfully been building fully certified lifting and drilling equipment for the global offshore oil and gas industry for over 10 years and is still supplying products and services for this industry. Roborigger inherits this breadth of experience and longevity – we are here for the long haul.

We are looking for an Electrical, Electronics and Controls Engineer who will be responsible for the onboard electrical and controls systems of Roborigger.

The candidate must be able to prepare detailed work scopes and product roadmap in the above areas and have skills to review and check work in all areas. The candidate is expected to be the primary electrical designer.
Electrical engineering
The role requires a knowledge of the above systems with a high level of expertise in control systems and low voltage AC and DC systems programmed in C++.
The system uses LiFePO4 batteries and the candidate will be responsible for the battery management systems.
Onboard micro-controller and software
Onboard IoT system and computer
Roborigger has a Linux based management computer that undertakes edge processing and communicates data to the IoT monitoring package. This system interacts with the onboard control and electrical systems and sensors.
New product development
Overall, you will define the procurement, assembly and testing processes so the manufacturing process for Roborigger can be fast and reliable. Testing to allow subassemblies to be pretested prior to installation on Roborigger.
You will stay abreast of the latest developments in the product space and be able to demonstrate interaction with peers on technical issues. It is expected that you would be a member of Engineers Australia and attend EA or equivalent technical functions.
You will be required to interact with a multi-disciplined product team consisting of software engineers, mechanical engineers, operations and training personnel. Communication skills are important.
You will have a strong commercial sense and understand the business needs.
You will be able to document the work in a highly methodical and consistent manner and be able to provide documentation that will allow maintenance and repairs to be undertaken by service personnel worldwide.
You will have an electrical or electronics university bachelors degree or higher as well as a minimum of 5 years’ experience (If the experience level is less than this, the candidate will still be considered if experience is highly relevant).
